The Inspiration Behind Our Latest Collection...

Grab your sunnies and SPF: our Summer of Love collection has officially landed, with plenty of fresh pyjama sets, casual separates and swimwear for your summer getaways. And, of course, a new line-up of prints to perfectly capture the season of sun-drenched days and balmy nights.  

We interviewed Lauren, our Head of Design, who was heavily involved in the creation of Summer of Love alongside her talented design team. With a first-class degree in Fashion Design and Marketing from Northumbria University, Lauren has been bringing the Chelsea Peers spirit to PJ drawers and beyond for 6 years. She loves festivals, and can’t wait to wear Summer of Love to Glastonbury this year. She even won ‘Biggest CP Fan’ at last year’s Christmas party. Oh, and she has a dog called Ollie. Keep your eyes peeled, as he may be cropping up in our future collections!

1. What was the main source of inspiration behind the new collection?

“Summer of Love is inspired by the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. The psychedelic styles and free-flowing state of mind of those times, more specifically.
 
 The collection inspires simple days relaxing with loved ones while enjoying the warmth of the sun on your skin. Underneath the surface is simmering excitement for the summer ahead, making you feel as if anything is possible – maybe, just maybe, this is the summer to fall in love.”

2. How would you describe the Summer of Love collection in three words?

“Inclusive. Free. Exciting.”

3. What sets Summer of Love apart from previous Spring/Summer collections?

“This summer, we have brand-new fabrications, including true linen blends and cotton cheesecloth. Destined for warmer climes, linen is super breathable, absorbent, temperature-regulating and 100% biodegradable, while cotton cheesecloth is lightweight and has a relaxed, flattering drape.  

Expect new shapes, too, from a breezy wide-leg jumpsuit to slouchier styles that are perfect for beach to promenade. And don’t forget our tongue-in-cheek motifs – we’re known for our playful hand-drawn prints, after all! Let’s just say, things have been a little spicier this season…”

4. Which three styles could you not wait to have in your PJ drawer?

“I love them all! But I’m particularly looking forward to wearing the Satin Olive & Lilac Lotus Crane Print short set, Linen Orange & Pink Ruffle Trim short set and Orange & Pink Retro Tile Print Cami short set.”

“At Chelsea Peers, we always have something exciting in the pipeline, and next season is no different! Watch this space…”
