Don’t call us a Scrooge, but while we love Christmas, we don’t love how unsustainable it can be. From reels and reels of wrapping paper, to mountains of leftovers heading to the bin, it can be a really wasteful time. However, with a few simple steps, you can make Christmas 2020 far more sustainable. And with Chelsea Peers’ Christmas pyjama collection being crafted from recycled material, you can be snug and smug while doing so! Check out our tips and tricks for a more sustainable Christmas...
Gift Sustainably

One sure-fire way to make your Christmas more sustainable this year is filling your stockings with sustainable gifts. By gifting sustainably, you can massively reduce the chance of unwanted presents being thrown away come 2021, many of which are non-recyclable and end up in landfill. This year, perhaps give an experience such as a meal at a favourite restaurant or a voucher for a prosecco filled painting class with Brush and Bubbles.

Better yet, you can gift a pair of Chelsea Peers pyjamas. All our PJs are made from recycled material, sustainable fibres, organic cotton and REPREVE yarn (fibre made from recycled plastic bottles!), which minimises waste throughout our supply chain, while we craft beautiful sleepwear. Check out some of our favourites this season!
Go wild with our bold and brilliant zebra print Eco Long PJ Set. The crew neck style top and drawstring bottoms makes this set so comfy; you’ll never want to take them off...we did warn you!

Eco Cotton Navajo Short Set
We love how cool and understated the festive print is on our Navajo Eco Cotton Short Set. With a long sleeved top and cheeky shorts, this set is perfect for cosy nights by the fire.

Baby Animal Doughnut Eco Pyjama
It’s never too early to start your sustainability mission! This cute and colourful print brings together doughnuts and animals for the sweetest, softest baby pyjama around.

Even though they are made of recycled materials, our pyjamas are so soft and cosy, we guarantee these won’t end up in the unwanted pile come the New Year!
Wrap Sustainably

Did you know that 95% of wrapping paper is non-recyclable? While the glitter used in wrapping paper adds a special sparkle, it also means it cannot be recycled resulting in a huge amount of waste produced each Christmas. To make your Christmas more sustainable, perhaps use cloth wraps instead or old wrapping paper you may have lurking?

Or you could forego wrapping paper altogether. All Chelsea Peers pyjamas come gift wrapped in beautiful recycled cardboard boxes with an organic cotton keepsake bag, so no extra wrapping is needed. Your Chelsea Peers giftbox will hold its own under the tree this year and make your gift all the more sustainable.

Decorate Sustainably

Christmas just isn’t complete without a Christmas tree. But while we are big supporters of twinkly lights and garish baubles, we are bigger supporters of FSC certified Christmas trees. If a tree is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council, it means it comes from a well-managed forest, which uses minimal pesticides and protects the plant and wildlife within it, making it the far more sustainable option. There are many FSC Christmas Tree farms in the UK, check out their website to find the one nearest you!

Here at Chelsea Peers, we understand the importance of well-maintained forests and just how vital trees are to our planet. We are proud to be working with the @onetreeplanted initiative which plants a tree for every order from our website. So you can sleep soundly in your snuggly Chelsea Peers pyjamas knowing that there is one more tree in the world thanks to your order!
